In the last four years , Chile has positioned itself as one of the countries in South America, with Brazil and Colombia, where more infrastructure has been built, according to what the latest Intelligence study elaborated by DatacenterDynamics reveals.
Also, important projects have been implemented in order to enhance and expand the own infrastructures. This is the case of Chile’s Treasury, the entity has updated its secondary data center. The renovation has consisted of additions in the technological platform in the data layer, such as servers of data bases, high end and mid range storage, or the robotic and virtual libraries, amongst other aspects.
Other big scale project has been the national Laboratory for High Performance Computing (NLHPC), located at Universidad de Chile, through which the country offers supercomputing capacities to the scientific community as well as to the industry and public sectors. The equipment is ranked the second fastest computer in South America in Lartop 50.
In addition, enterprises are adopting new technologies such as mobility, hyper-convergence or the IoT. BYOD As much as the cloud, public or hybrid, has generalized as tendencies. In fact, IDC estimates that the public Chilean cloud will grow a 37% through 2015.
In this context the 5th edition of the DCD Converged Chile is framed, event where these tendencies will be addressed. The program gathers conferences imparted by the most relevant experts such as Robert Tozer who will be talking about the industry’s sustainability and the new roads that open up to the data center, unifying theory and practice, just like Diego Lizana, Chief responsible of the Chilean Agency of Energetic Efficiency, with a presentation on the energetic situation in the country and will disclose the characteristics of the new data center of Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María.
The event, that will be happening on November the 19th will be held at Espacio Riesco, offering more than 20 sessions, 40 presenters and 5 thematic areas, creating a unique forum to showcase the transformation of the Chilean data center.
